SUNDAY TIMES PERTH WA - 14 SEPT 1930
COMMERCIAL DIRECTORY" PROPOSITION
Douglas Leander Morris (39). who describes himself 'as a publicity expert, was arrested in Perth yesterday by Det-Sgt. Doyle and Detective Delaney oh a charge of vagrancy.
Morris allegedly came to this State to seek advertising matter for a prospective publication "The Commercial Directory of Australia" 1930-31 issue. This is stated to be controlled by Commercial Publishers, whose head office is given as Edward Street, Brisbane, but there is a belief that Morris is running the whole show.
A number of agents, acting in all good faith, have been obtaining advertisements from business firms (cash and cheques for same) for the proposed journal. These canvassers have been told by Morris that the directory is to be published about December next, but it is noteworthy that canvassers were provided with receipt forms on which was printed:- "The publishers will not be responsible for any delays, but every effort will be made to issue the directory on the date mentioned by the representative."
Business was secured from a large number of Perth commercial bouses.
Morris has also engaged in a racehorse tipping business, issuing the "good oil" on Eastern States' events at 10/- a time. He is a fairly recent arrival from the Eastern States, where he has been engaged in a variety of ventures. | Morris, Douglas Leander (I4555)

The following was written by grandson Richard Gravestock "Thomas was a saddler in the British Army and his army papers show that he deserted in Feb 1883, in England. I have always thought that he left the Army with the expressed intention of immediately travelling to America to start a new life and avoid detection. His family travelling out to New York a year later to join him. (they moved to Chicago as a family about 1887).
Are all the shipping list arrivals for New York for ths period now indexed?
I suppose he could have given a false name to the shipping company when he left England to avoid detection by the police, and then reverted to using his proper name after arrival in New York."

There are virtually no church records for the period 1690-1695 for Maldon. Therefore, unless other information comes to light, John's parentage can only be assumed.
He states on his marriage license application ref. D/ABL/1728, the original of which is held in the archives of the Essex Records Office, that he was 35 years old. This puts his year of birth around 1693 so it would seem logical to assume that he was the son - probably the first - of John and Mary. He also stated on his license application that his occupation was a Yeoman. | Willingale, John (I0078)

There is no birth for Thomas Banister in the GRO indexes. His Christening record has his mother's name as Ann Banister and there is no father shown. On the 1851 census Thomas is living with his grandparents Samuel & Mary Burt and their unmarried son Charles Burt. On the 1861 census Thomas is boarding with another of Samuel & Mary's sons, Samuel Burt, and is enumerated as Thomas Burt. This leads us to assume that Thomas is the son of Charles Burt as the result of a relationship with Ann Burt. | Banister, Thomas (I6441)

| 2953 |
There is no birth registered for Charles William Wade. His Christening recod shows his father as George Fuller, a shoemaker and his mother as Sarah Wade. On his marriage to Emma Rosetta he names his father as Edward Wade. His mother Sarah Middleton married Edward Wade on 28/9/1819 at Colne Engaine Church. Edward was born in Colne Engaine in 1797 and died there in 1833. After Edward's death Sarah had several children all fathered, according to Christening records, by George Fuller.

There is no record of Robert's birth or death in the GRO indexes but there is a burial record for a Robert Willingate in 1894 in West Ham Cemetery. Most of their children were buried in West Ham Cemetery. | Willingale, Robert (I11210)

This is the first picture of a pest so desperate to rekindle his failed relationship he penned a letter from prison begging his ex to get back with him. Sean Willingale was locked up for bothering his former girlfriend so often that she was left feeling unsafe in her own home.
The convict, 56, had been banned from contacting the woman but he ignored orders from the court and repeatedly tried to speak to her. He claimed he had 'forgotten' about the rules stopping the pair from talking and turned up at her home unannounced on more than one occasion. | Willingale, Sean (I0733)

Thomas Willingale, wife Hannah & daughter Sarah travelled to Victoria, Australia in July 1841 aboard the 'Westminster', as assisted British immigrants (indexed as Wittingale).
From an email in March 2007 from a descendant of Thomas's third wife from her first marriage to Edward Henry Allnutt - " I've emailed a story to Gladys that my father told me years ago, no proof & with a warning that my father made up stories. Some have proved to have a ring of truth. Maybe you have an answer to this story though.
Dad told me that Elizabeth came to Australia as a widow with 2 small children, so far true.
He said that she had remarried, but couldn't say to whom. I now know this is true too.
Her new husband used to take supplies up to "The Diggings". One day his horse & cart (& his dog )came back all bloodstained & empty.
The husband was never seen or heard of again. Do you have any info on Thomas' death & his occupation?
Maybe we can prove or disprove Dad's story. " | Willingale, Thomas (I0013)

To date there are no more references to the Willingales in Rawreth or the surrounding parishes in the South East of Essex. In fact there are very few church records at all for the period 1643 to the mid 1650's.
This was probably due to the disruption caused by the English Civil War.
The next event traced was the marriage of John Willingale to Mary Bunts on the 2nd of July 1662 at Maldon, Essex about 10 miles NE of Rawreth.
I am therefore going to assume that John was the son of Jonas and Sara Willingale. | Willingale, Jonas (I0086)
