- Her parents were Robert (a cooper) and Hannah. She was baptised 29 July 1827 in Writtle.
Known from the birth certificate of her daughter Emily.
The 1851 census shows a Hannah Miller aged 23 who was born in Writtle, working as a house servant in Billericay.
The 1881 census shows the following living in Chapmans Alley, Brentwood :-
Hannah French aged 53, harness makers wife who was born in Writtle
Frederick, her son aged 13, an errand boy who was born in Chelmsford
Lydia, her daughter aged 7, a scholar who was born in Chelmsford
Thomas, her grandson aged 5, a scholar who was born in Clapham, Surrey
Hannah died on 16 March 1908 aged 80 of senile decay. Her address was 4 South Street, Brentwood although she died in the County Asylum. Her son George French registered the death.
