According to Dorothy Wright (in 1999) Lilian Olive was engaged to a Mr Cole who ran a driving school in Southend. She assumes (but doesn't know for certain) that they married. Olive had two daughters - Joan & Jill who were still quite young when their mother died. The children were then looked after by their grandparents in the farmhouse (High House) in Barling. She doesn't know where their father was but he wasn't with them at the farmhouse. When their grandmother died Joan was old enough to look after her grandfather so she stayed at the farmouse. Jill was still a child and she went to live with her Aunt & Uncle (Geoff & Gwen), who looked after her until she was old enough to make her own way in life.
