Alfred was a bachelor aged 26, a tarpaulin maker and Ada a spinster aged 21, a domestic servant. Both were residing at 73 Pentonville Road, Clerkenwell at the time of the marriage. Alfred's father was Alfred Burles, a carpenter and Ada's father was Edward John Wallis a railway labourer. Witnesses to the marriage were Catherine and John O'Regan. The fact that Alfred's father was a carpenter points to this being the Alfred Burles who was baptised in Leytonstone in 1880 although he would have been 36 not 26.
