  • Notes
    • We believe that Ann Murrell & Mary Murrell are the same person.

Mary Murrell was baptised on 18 September 1853 in Maldon St Mary. The vicar had noted that she had been born on 27 December 1843, the daughter of William Charles & Harriett Murrell.

She is still called Mary in 1851 but from 1861 until her death the records show her as Ann.

In 1851, in Church Street, Maldon (GRO ref 107/1778/532) lived the following
William Morrell aged 59, a mariner born in Hockley
Harriett Morrell, his wife aged 50 born in Orsett,
Mary Morrell, his daughter aged 8 born in Maldon

The 1861 census for High Street Maldon shows the following -
Harriet Murrell aged 60, a mariner's widow born in an unreadable place in Essex
Ann Murrell her daughter aged 18 who was born in Maldon
Alice Murrell, her granddaughter aged 5 who was born in Bermondsey
Isabella Murrell her granddaughter aged 4 who was born in Bermondsey.
