  According to his niece Dorothy Olive Wright, Gerald was an actor. His stage name was Gerald Wynott and he played in theatre and pantomime all over the country. Gerald married Lily Peters whose parents ran a boatyard in Thorpe Bay, and they had a son named Peter. They moved "up north somewhere" and the family lost track of them. Found out later that the son was actually named Gerald Peter. In 1901 the family were living at 28 Grove Road, Southend on Sea RG13/1679/32 p56 E Wright aged 41 a cycle maker born in England EE Wright his wife aged 41 born in England EJ Wright jr. his son aged 20 a cycle maker born in England Winnie Wright his daughter aged 17 born in England Gerald Wright his son aged 8 born in England In 1911 Emily was living apart from her husband at 46 Inverness Avenue, Westcliff. Her son Charles Gerald aged 18 was living with her. Gerald died aged 33 of Dementia Paralytica, a form of syphilis, in Brentwood Mental Hospital. His address was Hillside, Ashingdon.
