- Thomas Wright was baptised on 14 April 1797 in Woodham Ferrers. His parents were Thomas & Sarah.
Thomas was the parish clerk in 1841 and in 1851 he was the census enumerator for Woodham Ferrers.
In 1841 he lived in Woodham Ferrers with his wife Mary and his daughter Sarah from his first marriage.
The 1851 census for Woodham Ferrers shows the following -
Thomas Wright aged 52, a dealer who was born in Woodham Ferrers
Mary his wife aged 32 who was born in East Hanningfield
Emma his daughter aged 8 who was born in Woodham Ferrers
Edmund Wright a visitor aged 5 who was born in Woodham Ferrers.
In 1861 Thomas and Mary had another daughter Ellen, aged 6 and Edmund Wright is listed as grandson aged 15. Both Thomas & Edmund were butchers.
In 1871 Thomas and Mary lived alone in the butchers shop, Woodham Ferrers.
In 1881 Thomas & Mary have their granddaughter Catherine E Stevens, aged 7 living with them in the butcher's shop.
Found Thomas's grave in Woodham Ferrers churchyard. He was buried Nov 13 1889 and his wife was buried in the same grave on December 26 1889. Thomas died aged 92, Mary died aged 73.
